My husband sent this to me today and it meant alot. I am certainly not even CLOSE to Olympic level. But it is soo inspiring and describes a bit of me.. who I want to be.
I remember watching this in 1984, on TV. I remember the winner Joan Benoit (in video above!) , and being so excited to watch women race and reach their goals way back then! I had the pleasure of meeting our Canadian runner, Sylvia Ruegger , she had a horrible race and came in 8th, but her stories of sticking with her dream was just incredible! She came to our local RR and shared so much of her heart. I broke down in tears listening to her story. I wept, and so I had to excuse myself from the room to compose myself! She stirred something inside of me. It was incredible! Thank you for sharing this!! xx
